I am writing this article for those who understand and appreciate what I share and do, to inform them of my plans for the near future, and perhaps the long-term.
I have been on an incredible journey since I left high school in 1983. With 35 years of travel, study, research, and practice behind me, I have lived an extremely full life. But now, I am left feeling totally empty. The reason is, there are very, very few people with whom I can share my life. True company, where you can openly communicate everything with someone who is beyond doubt, judgment and question, is almost non-existent.
As some of you know, I have sacrificed everything over the last 18 years endeavouring to share what I have learned. I am now on the verge of walking away from everything and starting a whole new life. This is nothing new, as I have been feeling this way for a very long time. Now, I have simply had enough. I am no longer prepared to persevere on a path that seems futile.
If you think that is defeatist, take a good hard look at the field of natural health, and alternative medicine and science and see what is going on. Anyone who attempts to reveal the truth quickly gets shouted down, or even killed off. Even when the truth does come out, nothing changes. If anything new appears that goes against mainstream thinking, it is immediately met with a thousand excuses. I have seen this countless number of times. The truth is often too inconvenient to accommodate, or too expensive to implement.
It seems very few people are actually ready to hear the truth. Last year, I spoke to a business mentor who suggested that you can’t introduce anything NEW to the market. He believes people aren’t open enough, so you have to infiltrate an existing market. Once you get people onboard, you can steer them in the direction you want to take them. Well, I took that advice and began to put it into practice. This meant that I had to start all over again, and completely change my perspective and approach.
I present a scale called, The Life Quest Scale. It defines the 18 levels as to where people are at in relation to their goals and perceived potential. Level 18 is the highest, but level 13 is where people begin to seek the whole picture and look to make permanent changes. However, there are very few people who are actually at that level. Most people only want to make their problems go away so they can keep doing what they are already doing. They only want to improve their existing reality and not seeking true change. They are content with the idea of ‘making a difference’ in their life or someone else’s, but most people find any real change too scary.
I spent so many years attempting to share the capstone of the pyramid from the Top-down Perspective. I had focused a lot of my time and energy looking for people who could share the material with people below level 13. But for the last 9 months, I have been endeavouring to find ways of sharing the material from the Bottom-up. It has been like going from teaching in a University to going down to kindergarten level. Naturally, this requires a completely different skillset and resources. It has been an extremely intense time with very limited success.
There are many reasons why, but the main one is that the momentum in people’s lives prevents them from being able to stop and think about what is really going on. They never question anything in their reality. Whereas that is all I have ever done. Nearly every time I ask people basic questions, like, “What do you ultimately want?” or “Why do you want what you want?” They answer, “I don’t know. I have never stopped to think about it.”
People like Joe Rogan and David Icke have become popular because they are making the notion of “Question everything” mainstream. This scene is great for people who are new to questioning things, but what about those who have been searching for answers for years, if not decades. I endeavoured to share my material with this is the sector of community. However, even though they were at that level of understanding, the dominant force in their lives meant was too obscure to their Bottom-up reality. They couldn’t get their brainwashed heads and indoctrinated hearts around it to see any relevance in it. Otherwise, they were in survival mode and didn’t have any time or energy to embrace anything new, even if was what they really needed.
Nearly everyone is dealing with a level of cognitive dissonance. But what is even more challenging to get passed is people’s level of cognitive and confirmation bias, which prevents them from realising the whole picture. The Dunning-Kruger Effect is where someone overestimates their level of competency, understanding and awareness. This state is rampant in the field of health and healing. However, knowing what questions to ask soon reveals where people are really at within themselves, rather than where they think they are at. The challenge has been to bring this to people’s awareness without getting them offside. Sometimes it is possible to gently talk an individual or group around, other times I don’t even try to be gentle if their ego is too strong.
It is possible to get through to people at any level. It just requires an enormous amount of time and energy. When you do this in a one on one situation, it is a very ineffective use of time. I started doing Top-down motivation and inspiration events to get through to more people. However, for all the above reasons, they have not appealed to people either. I have to meet people for where they are at, so I am now considering presenting a whole new range of new seminars and workshops from the lowest common denominator. Instead of drawing people up, I will be getting underneath them and lifting them up.
My first book, The Nature of Life, was meant to be the first in a series of 21 books. The last year has left me realising that the next three books (at least) will now be prequels instead. I am not making writing a priority, because I am reconfiguring vast amounts of existing information as well as developing all the new material to make it relevant to the Bottom-up Perspective and Approach.
I have had dozens of attempts to get funding or sponsorship over the years, which would have enabled me to do everything for free or on a donation basis. That would be the ultimate, but the New Age BS is making it impossible for me to work that way. This is why I have drawn a line in the sand and decided to practice what I preach, and do the opposite of everything I have been doing.
Instead of devoting the majority of my time to writing and researching, I am going to focus on going back to the Bottom-up therapeutic approach. My main focus will be on offering all the treatments and healings, but I will still offer the normal consultations, counselling and spiritual psychology. I am also offering the Brain Exercise Program in individual sessions.
